We want to congratulate you on your pregnancy! Palm Desert Resuscitation Education LLC (PDRE)’s “HAVING A BABY!” curriculum is geared towards promoting an environment that supports a healthy start for you and your family.

PDRE offers a variety of programs for expectant and new parents. Taking our courses can contribute to a greater understanding of obstetrics and pediatrics related themes in addition to offering an opportunity to ask questions and voice your concerns in your individualized and special time in your life.

This certification course is to get you prepared on a family-centered care with PDRE’s education through a multitude of courses in Pregnancy, Maternity Orientation, Prepared Childbirth, Breastfeeding, and Newborn Care.

COVID-19 Pre-Cautionary Measures: This course is currently taught via webinar and electronically (Zoom, Web-Ex, GoTo meeting, Cisco, etc.) from home as a Teleconference Remote Course Presentations or Distance Learning.

Classroom-based: Blended Learning with Classroom and Virtual Training means students are with an Instructor for their entire learning experience.

Course Content and Description:

This course is for beginners and advanced students that highlight the importance of your pregnancy and delivery to prepare you and your loved ones for what to expect and decrease the apprehension of your individualized life-changing process for a women’s health and wellness.

  • Introduction to Your Pregnancy
    • Pre-register to have your baby at your designated hospital.
    • Ask for a “Maternity Tour” to see the obstetrics, labor and delivery, intensive care unit (ICU), nursery, and/or post-partum department if available.
    • Register for obstetric education and prenatal classes at Palm Desert Resuscitation Education LLC (Pediatric First Aid CPR AED) and reviewing your To Do List for your Maternity Orientation.
    • Purchase and install an infant car seat for safety
    • Choose a Pediatrician, Family Doctor, or Mid-Level Nurse Practitioner for your baby before delivery.
    • Choose your baby’s name for the Birth Certificate.
    • Packing for You, Your Emotional Support Person, and Your Baby.

      • COVID-19 Precautionary Measures: Most hospitals are now only allowing One Support Person to stay at the L&D.
      • Usually this is also at the discretion of the admitting physician and nurse based upon the patient’s condition.
      • A visitor under a certain young age (i.e., 13 years old) must be accompanied by an adult who is not the patient or birth partner participating in the labor process.

      • Most moms that have delivered vaginally are ready to go home 24 hours after delivery.

Course Format/Time:

  • Classroom-based

  • Distance Learning
    • Due to the COVID-19 Pre-Cautionary Measures, this course is currently taught via webinar and electronically (Zoom, Web-Ex, GoTo meeting, Cisco, etc.) from home as a Teleconference Remote Course Presentations or Distance Learning.
  • This curriculum consists of 4 to 6 hours of training for first-time and renewal certifications. 
  • Course time based on 1 instructor to 10 students

Course Fee:

  • Initial (first-time)/Renewing Providers: $150
    • Course Fee is Per Couple or the Student and their Emotional Support Person

Certification:

  • Upon successful course completion, students receive a certificate for the “HAVING A BABY!” By PDRE LLC: Pregnancy, Childbirth, Breastfeeding and Parenting Education and Planning Course.

We want to advance our mission of promoting healthier lives and assist in reducing the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases and stroke through evidenced-based learning and professional education as per the most current AHA, AAP, ARC and other guidelines and recommendations.
